Kov Skincare

Kov Skincare was formed with a meaningful intention - to create effortlessly luxurious & natural products that transport you through smell, texture and feel. The design of this project was a partnership with Cody Turple and the owners of Kov, Miguel & Alicia. Starting with the initial brand, we brought the vision to life with the wordmark and initial packaging concepts. Striking a balance between something that felt bold, but soft at the same time, irreverent & with retro influences - we landed on the mark early in the process and the rest came to life over the years as we worked on packaging, digital marketing and much more.

Kov’s design language is irreverent and pushes the boundaries of what we expect to see in skincare these days. Designed to be loved and appreciated by everyone, a gender and identity-neutral lens was used when creating the identity - with the vibrant Kov blue, references to nature and organic qualities you could find in their products, formulated with harvested wild kelp and other sustainable and earth-friendly ingredients.

Sustainability and lifecycle of packaging

Kov’s flagship product was a clay mask designed to be mixed with water, face oil or toner to create a detoxifying and soothing mask. Following the clay was the Everywhere Wash and Lotion duo - two intoxicatingly scented washes to be used everywhere, as the name says. We worked closely with Kov to iterate and select packaging for the products, as well as a system for refills. At the heart of all of the work at Kov, sustainability was key. Glass bottles and jars meant that the packaging could continue to have a life after the product runs out.

While packaging was at the forefront of a lot of our work for Kov, countless other design opportunities came up over the years. From playlist covers, social media posts, postcards, and other printed & digital designs, we had the opportunity to grow the vision for the brand from many different angles.

Where is kov now?

Unfortunately, Kov retired in 2023 - but as we slowly and sparingly work our way through reserved products, the project is still very much alive in our hearts, as a brand that we all felt very connected to and proud of. Thankfully, Kov's beloved Everywhere Wash and Lotion formulas are still alive under Sunja Link.
